Salary Range:

The compensation for a traditional 3-unit course is $8,502.

Purpose:

Basic Qualifications

Graduate degree in Education or related field

Selected candidate will have expertise and teaching experience in English Language Development that includes but is not limited to:

Provide TK-12 teacher candidates with the knowledge of the linguistic and cultural aspects of developing English language proficiency.

Support TK-12 teacher candidates to develop an an understanding of the theory and methods of teaching linguistically diverse learners, including models for designated and integrated English language development as well as sheltering strategies to make content more accessible.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctoral level and licensed CA teaching credential preferred.

Responsibilities:

Fulfill all responsibilities associated with teaching the "English Language Development for TK-12 Teachers" course, including but not limited to:
  • Teach no more than two courses in Summer 2024.
  • Conducting and appearing at all assigned class meetings in a timely and prepared manner that demonstrates a command of the discipline and skill in presenting it effectively;
  • Assigning and evaluating assignments that align with the course description and course learning outcomes, and providing timely feedback to students;
  • Holding regular weekly office hours on campus and/or online;
  • Submitting student grades that are appropriate, accurate and fair measures of student performance to the Office of the Registrar by the designated deadline;
  • Administering numerical and narrative evaluations for course work;
  • Teaching from an approved syllabus or working with the Chair to design an appropriate syllabus.
  • Fulfilling other academic duties as may be assigned by the Chair of the Department of Education
