    SALARY & PERSONNEL BENEFITS:
    The current salary schedule range for an entering tenure-track faculty member is $60,856 - $95,406 plus an earned doctoral bonus of $3,042.80. Depending on the entry step, the faculty member advances one-step each year and has the potential to reach the current maximum step of $121,454, depending on the educational level attained. Starting salary is commensurate with academic preparation and full-time related, paid experience. In addition to salary, each full-time employee participates in a "cafeteria style" health and welfare benefits program.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:
    Commencing Fall 2021, a full-time tenure-track faculty position will be available in the Department of Medical Imaging Sciences. Responsibilities include instruction in the theory of Radiographic and Imaging Sciences, and clinical teaching and evaluation within three counties (Santa Barbara, Ventura, and Los Angeles), as needed. Other duties consist of, but not limited to, meeting professional responsibilities as set by the college, participation in departmental responsibilities including departmental and bimonthly clinical faculty meetings, actively participate in maintaining and implementation of the program's curriculum and regulations to maintain state and national accreditation standards.

    Please Note: Clinical teaching and evaluation may require driving to get to the assigned location. The assignment for this position may include teaching in the Winter Intersession and Summer Session in addition to the regular Fall and Spring Semesters.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    Candidates must possess the minimum qualifications for the discipline as approved by the California Community Colleges Board of Governors and defined in the Minimum Qualifications for Faculty and Administrators in California Community Colleges handbook.

    1. Possession of a Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited institution plus two years full-time industry related experience in radiography technology OR
    2. Any Associate Degree plus six years full-time industry related experience in radiography technology; OR
    3. Possess a combination of education and experience that is at least the equivalent to all of the above. Candidates making an application on the basis of equivalency must submit an Application for Equivalency in addition to all other required material.

    If the title of your degree as stated on your transcripts DOES NOT EXACTLY MATCH one of the degree titles listed in the minimum qualifications listed above, you must request an equivalency review and submit conclusive supporting documents at the time of application. Those documents include a completed SBCC Equivalency Crosswalk and a narrative synopsis of your educational background justifying equivalency; OR

    4. Possession of a Lifetime California Community College Instructor Credential in Health and Physical Care Services and Related Technologies. AND, in addition to the above requirements, must also have:

    5. Evidence of a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, culture, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff.

    REQUIRED LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:
    Current ARRT and CDPH-RHB certificates in radiography and fluoroscopy.

    DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's Degree.
  • Additional certification by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
  • Teaching experience at a community college in both Radiography and Diagnostic Medical Sonography programs
  • Experience in imaging science specialties such as Digital, CT and MRI.
  • Ability to use computers and other multimedia technologies in the instruction of radiology courses.
  • Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of students with different ability statuses (e.g. physical and/or learning).
  • Interest in and evidence of expertise in culturally-responsive pedagogical techniques, including effective practices for engaging students who are historically underrepresented and underserved in classrooms.
  • An understanding of the implications a Hispanic-Serving designation suggests for institutional, departmental, and instructional practices.

    Selection Procedure:
    The selection committee, who will recommend candidates for personal interviews at SBCC, will initially review online applications that meet minimum qualifications or contain a request for equivalency.
