Position Summary:
The Department of Speech, Language, Hearing Sciences at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-line faculty position at the Assistant or Associate level. We are building upon our highly regarded undergraduate program as we launch a graduate program in speech-language pathology in June 2022. In line with MSU Denver's goal to become a model Hispanic-Serving Institution for higher education, our department is committed to providing inclusive and accessible academic programs. We are particularly interested in applicants who share in this programmatic vision. Successful applicants will also demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and high-impact teaching practices, as well as pursue scholarly activities and professional development; advise and mentor students from a large, diverse urban population; and engage in appropriate service to the department, university and profession. The University is particularly interested in applicants who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for under-represented groups. While the nature of this position requires the employee to be on-site and have an outward presence for students, faculty, and staff, there is the ability to complete some work remotely.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Teach 12 credit hours per semester in the undergraduate and graduate programs. Teaching may include synchronous courses (online + live instruction) as well as completely online/asynchronous courses. The successful candidate will also be expected to advise undergraduate and graduate students and participate in curriculum development and programmatic accreditation; conduct research and engage in scholarly activities related to the discipline; perform professional service for the university, profession, and community; and serve on departmental, university and professional committees.

Required Qualifications:
  • Earned research doctorate in speech-language pathology or commensurate field
  • Certificate of clinical competence in speech-language pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
  • University-level teaching experience


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Expertise in acquired communication/swallowing disorders and/or clinical-service provision with culturally and linguistically diverse populations
  • Knowledge/use of educational teaching technology including learning management systems (e.g. Canvas)
  • Demonstrated record of scholarship
  • Experience preparing extramural grant applications
  • Familiarity with university and programmatic accreditation
  • Commitment to universitys values: Community, Access, Diversity, Respect and Excellence (CADRE)
  • Experience working with and sensitivity to the needs of a diverse urban student population including (but not limited to) students of color, LBGTQIA students, students from low-income backgrounds, first-generation students, students with disabilities, undocumented students, non-traditional students, student veterans, and English-language learners
